CHICAGO, IL - An Elgin man is facing a number of charges in connection to a suspected DUI crash in Hoffman Estates that left two teens dead Saturday morning.
According to NBC Chicago, first responders were called to the scene of the three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Higgins Road and Barrington Road at about 8:52 a.m.
Two occupants of one of the vehicles involved, 18-year-old Amelia Mazeikis and 18-year-old D'Shaun Tudela, were each rushed to local hospitals in serious condition. Both succumbed to their injuries later on. Police say they were each recent graduates of Schaumburg High School.
Two additional victims were hospitalized with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
The driver of another vehicle, 32-year-old Dani Rubio, was arrested and charged with five felony counts including, two counts of aggravated DUI resulting in the death of another person, two counts of reckless homicide and one count of attempt to disarm a peace officer.
Rubio's bond hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. on Monday at the Rolling Meadows Court House.
