CHICAGO, IL - A hit-and-run collision just outside of Guaranteed Rate Field left four pedestrians injured on Tuesday evening.
According to WGN, the incident occurred at about 6:22 p.m. as two men and two women were walking near West 35th Street and South Shields Avenue.
Police say a silver sedan struck the group at a high rate of speed, causing one of the victims to be thrown onto the roof, and into the vehicle through the open sunroof.
The suspect vehicle was then pursued by CPD officers, SWAT team members, and Illinois State Police troopers until it crashed on the Dan Ryan Expressway.
The person who was thrown into the vehicle was rushed to University of Chicago Medical Center with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries. The three remaining victims at the 35th St. scene were also transported to area hospitals in critical condition.
The driver of the sedan was taken to a local hospital after being arrested. His three passengers were also hospitalized with minor injuries.
