CHICAGO, IL -- A 38-year-old man was injured late Wednesday afternoon when an apparent road rage incident led to a two-vehicle crash and shooting in Chicago's Woodlawn neighborhood, reports Hyde Park Herald.
The events unfolded at the intersection of East Marquette Road and South Kimbark Avenue, on August 16, shortly before 4:00 p.m.
Investigators say the man was driving eastbound on Marquette Road when a Ford Fusion traveling the same way struck his vehicle. The impact of the initial crash sent both vehicles slamming into the fence of an apartment building at the intersection's southeast corner.
Following the crash, the driver of the Ford Fusion got out of their vehicle and shot at the victim, who was hit twice in one leg. The shooter then fled the scene on foot before authorities arrived.
First responders rushed the victim to University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was listed in good condition.
An investigation and search for the fleeing suspect remains underway.
