COOK COUNTY, IL -- A man died Friday morning after being struck by a Metra Rock Island train in Midlothian, according to FOX 32 Chicago.
Authorities said the fatal incident occurred on the tracks near Midlothian station, located at 3750 147th Street, at about 8:15 a.m.
The circumstances around the event remain under investigation, but the male pedestrian, who had a ticket to board a train at the station, was hit by Metra Rock Island train #403.
The victim was pronounced deceased as a result of injuries suffered in the contact.
Metra officials said inbound trains were delayed up to 50 minutes. At 9:00 a.m., all outbound train traffic was also suspended.
