CHICAGO, IL - A wrong-way crash involving an SUV and a CTA bus near Montrose Beach left one person dead and 15 others injured early Sunday.
According to WLS, a Dodge Journey was heading south in the northbound lanes of DuSable Lake Shore Drive near Montrose Avenue shortly before 6 a.m. when it slammed head-on into the CTA bus.
An unidentified female passenger in the Dodge was rushed to University of Chicago Hospital, where she died a short time later. The driver and another passenger were also hospitalized in critical condition.
All 13 occupants of the bus, including the driver, were also taken to nearby hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
The reason for the SUV driving in the wrong direction was not immediately apparent.
