CHICAGO, IL -- A man was hospitalized with serious injuries early Tuesday after a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on Chicago's South Side, according to ABC 7 Chicago.
The incident took place on the 8600 block of South Stony Island Avenue, in the Avalon Park neighborhood. Chicago Police responded to the scene at around 1:44 a.m.
An early investigation found that the man, believed to be about 50 years old, was trying to cross the street on foot when he was hit by a red sedan. The driver then fled northbound in the vehicle without alerting authorities or stopping to render aid.
First responders rushed the victim to University of Chicago Medical Center where he was listed in serious condition.
At this time, the hit-and-run suspect remains at large. Area Two detectives are leading an investigation.
