CHICAGO, IL -- A 48-year-old woman died Wednesday evening following a pedestrian collision in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood, according to FOX 32 Chicago.
Chicago Police said the fatal incident occurred in the 2100 block of West Cermak Road at around 5:30 p.m.
An early investigation shows the woman was using a marked crosswalk to cross the road on foot. Authorities said a 38-year-old man was behind the wheel of an SUV turning west onto Cermak from Hoyne Avenue when the vehicle hit the female pedestrian.
First responders rushed the victim to Stroger Hospital where she was pronounced deceased. Officials have not disclosed her identity at this time.
The SUV driver, who remained at the scene after the crash, was cited for "driving on a suspended license." No charges have been reported as of this writing.
An investigation by the department's Major Accidents unit remains underway.
